…hey all.
Nobody said that independent publishing is easy. And I’ll be one to tell you: it’s a whole lot harder than you’d think. Trust me.
I’ve been blissfully ignorant this past week; ever since the proof copies arrived. I knew I’d forgotten something.
The ITIN. My International Tax Identification Number. I’m still waiting for it to arrive. Since there’s a possibility that I might have to pay taxes to the US for the sales of this novel, I can’t just go ahead and put it up for sale until this number gets here.
However, I’ve been waiting for it patiently, and I’ve been telling people that the novel should at least be out by early December. This might still happen when it comes to the version available at Outland, but when it comes to the online sales…

I received a letter today. Seeing that it was from the IRS I leapt with glee – thinking that this was my ITIN at last!
Oh the irony of faith. It was MY letter to THEM. In return. The adress slip had (ironically) slipped inside of the envelope, and unable to determine where it was going, they sent it back to me. This took them a month. It generally takes up to two months for the IRS to deal with this kind of application, meaning that I have NO idea when SNOW will be up for online sales.
Nobody’s as devastated about this as I am. I wanted it out before Christmas. I don’t want to keep making promises to my readers that can’t be kept.
But all I can do is to resend the letter containing my papers and wait for their reply. However long that may take.
I’m really sorry to be disappointing anyone reading this. >_<

Some might take this as a sign; "The world doesn't want this book to be published yet". I don't care. I WILL have this novel out as soon as I can!
Please, be patient. I'm currently ripping my hair out here, but I have no choice but to suck it up either..

On the brighter side; I have 15 000 words left of NANO, and Yuuki's birthday was a bit rushed and messy (I broke a glass of jell-o all over the kitchen) but it was also sweet and fun. Here's a pic of the 'cake' we made him!
